Meet the Team: Catherine Adams

We are keen to introduce you to a different member of our deeply passionate team  at AgPlus each month, to share the passion and dedication that is put into our business every day.  Second in our 'Meet the Team' series is Catherine Adams, a research and development scientist.

A BIT ABOUT CATHERINE

Catherine graduated with a 1st class Hons in Biochemistry from Nottingham Trent University, where she also undertook a placement year working in a Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit. Since graduating she has worked as an associate scientist in Immunoassay in pre-clinical drug development working to GxP regulations. She is currently working on the alternative aspect of healthcare research in medical diagnostics.

COMPANY ROLE

I am a scientist in the research and development team, where I work on contract projects starting from feasibility right through to verification and transfer to manufacture.

STARTING WITH AG+

I have been with the company since April, within this time I have learnt so much about our technology and how to incorporate my immunoassay knowledge in the AgPlus technology. I was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn. When I researched Ag+ I was intrigued by the scientific basis of this medical device; combining immunoassay and electrochemistry!! It was a great opportunity to join the team when manufacturing our first product is within sight.

BEST PART OF THE JOB

The scientific freedom to experiment. Whilst working on feasibility, optimization and validation of projects; with the soul aim to get the product into hospitals or clinics to help improve patient diagnosis and disease monitoring. The scientific concept behind the portable technology is so complex and cleverly designed making every day a learning opportunity. But also, the great working environment being able to collaborate with my fellow colleagues makes challenging situations so much easier. With our team approach we combine all our individual expertise’s into a wealth of knowledge.

THE YEAR AHEAD

The current project I am working on is progressing well hopefully by the middle of the next year that project will be transferred to manufacturing. With the next generation of reader on the horizon, the Agilis will create new and exciting challenges for the R+D team, in turn improving the transition from R+D to manufacturing to hospital/clinics.
