Per Venge graduated as a medical doctor in Uppsala, Sweden in 1973 and has been based at the same University Hospital since then. His speciality has been clinical chemistry and diagnostics over the same period and he has published over 600 original articles. During 2017 Per undertook consultancies for bioMerieux, Philips Healthcare Incubator and Radiometer. He recently won the prestigious EU award of €1m for the most promising method to distinguish acute infections by Point of Care technologies ‘Better Use of Antibiotics’.
