This month we would like to introduce you to our Non Executive Director & Scientific Advisor Dr Tito Bacarese-Hamilton.
A BIT ABOUT TITO
Tito graduated from King's College, London and earned his PhD at the Royal Postgraduate Medical Centre in London before joining Amersham International as a Project Manager to deliver In Vitro Diagnostic assays to the field. His journey has spanned senior executive positions in multi-national companies, in SMEs and latterly in funding and leading start-ups in the Healthcare arena. He specialises in vitro diagnostics and has served in the field for over 35 years over which time he has brought numerous technologies and tests to market.
COMPANY ROLE
I sit on the Board of Directors as a Non-exec and I bring to the table my experience and expertise to execute and deliver operational excellence, leveraging my global network when and as required. I initiated Ag Plus’s Scientific Advisory Board the key objective of which is to review technology development with the company’s strategic direction and map against market opportunities.
STARTING WITH AG+
In early 2016 I was invited to join the board of AgPlus to leverage my experience in bringing many technologies and products to market. I was attracted by the technology platform that AgPlus were developing and its relevance to decentralized testing.
BEST PART OF THE JOB
Seeing young talent deliver and do things that they did not think was possible. Ultimately, success is all about people and the creation of teams whose members complement each other in their determination to succeed.
WORST PART OF THE JOB
In science and in medicine not everything works out as you would like it to, sometimes you need to take a deep breath and make big changes.
THE YEAR AHEAD
This coming year will result in the final validation of the Agilis system and, in combination with bespoke commercial partners, will establish it at the core of Point-of-Care testing. This is the result of many years of hard work by every single member of the team and will be a memorable achievement.
